The BBQ Competition Meat Inspector plays a crucial role in upholding the integrity and food safety standards of the competition. This position ensures that all participating teams comply with event guidelines for meat preparation and handling, contributing to a fair and high-quality competition.
Responsibilities:
- Meat Verification: Ensure each team has sourced its own meat, which must be raw and unseasoned upon arrival. Verify that no pre-cooking, pre-marinating, or pre-seasoning has occurred before the official start of the competition on the Friday before the event at 9:00 AM.
- Food Safety Assurance: Inspect all meats for safety, ensuring there is no spoilage or pungent odors that could compromise health standards or the competition's quality.
- Compliance Checks: Conduct thorough checks at team check-ins and throughout the preparation process to ensure adherence to competition rules.
- Reporting Issues: Notify event organizers immediately of any violations or concerns related to meat preparation or safety.
Qualifications:
- Experience in BBQ competition meat inspection, commercial meat preparation, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining fairness and compliance.
